Impact of dyslexia in education

Dyslexia can have both positive and negative effects on people’s performance in higher and further education. Developing your learning and study skills can reduce dyslexia related problems significantly.

The skills and abilities of dyslexic students are usually greater than their difficulties, and their problems often mask their abilities. Dyslexic students are often intuitive, with good interpersonal skills; innovative and lateral thinkers; creative and imaginative; resourceful; and often determined to succeed and hardworking.

Students may experience difficulties with reading skills, writing skills, organising verbal information, approaching exams, time management, adapting to change and a lack of self-confidence.
